September and October are popular hiring months. To prepare for the fall, we're sharing a helpful strategy to prepare for interviews.

The STAR Method is an effective technique used in interviews to provide structured and concise responses. It stands for Situation, Task, Action, and Result. This method helps individuals clearly communicate their skills and experiences by providing specific examples.

Situation: Involves setting the context for the story or scenario being described. It outlines the circumstances and challenges faced by the individual. This step helps interviewers understand the background of the situation and why it was significant.

Task: Focuses on explaining the objective or goal that needed to be achieved within that particular situation. It highlights what was expected from the individual in terms of responsibilities or targets.

Action: Emphasizes what actions were taken by the individual to address the situation and accomplish the task at hand. It should include details of how they approached problem-solving, decision-making, and any steps taken to overcome obstacles.

Result: Explains the outcome of their actions and provides measurable achievements or improvements. This step demonstrates the impact of their efforts and allows interviewers to assess their effectiveness in similar situations.

College is still failing to prepare us for the real world. We built twenty to close the gap—it's the community & resource we wish we had earlier in our twenties.

What’s your favorite channel, forum, ritual or other event offered by your community?

My favorite channel is #anonymous, where you can ask anonymous questions about navigating work & life in your twenties and get advice, support, & resources from our growing community. The channel is filled with thoughtful questions on topics like quiet firing & quitting, navigating long-distance relationships & cross-country moves, deciding on job offers & opportunities, and more.

What is the process of joining your community?

Our Slack community & events are free! If you want to start booking 1:1 sessions with mentors & coaches across fields (e.g. product, startups, VC, engineering, design, marketing), you can join twenty for $19 per month (for students) or $39 per month (for young professionals). Excited to meet you!

What advice do you have for fellow community builders?

Be as authentic as possible in your communication, and identify specific champions within your community who can help catalyze conversation, spread the word, & come up with new ideas for engagement!
